Somati have always grown together with their users’ needs.
Founded in 1962 with portable fire extinguishers, first we expanded into the field of fixed fire-fighting installations and fire engines, and later on detection and fire doors.
Since the 80s, we offer one single source for complete fire protection! Now, this package is being integrated in a global system of electronic security with theft protection, access control and camera surveillance.

History
The continuous growth of Somati is based, on the one hand, on the integration of our products in a total package, and on the other, on international expansion. Modern fire safety is more and more result oriented (performance-based) and has a less normative approach.
Therefore, Somati invest in Fire Safety Engineering (FSE) to help the user in his risk assessment. From this analysis, we distil the concepts of buildings and installations. We integrate the permanent management of fire safety in our Fire Safety Management (FSM) module.
Nowadays, Somati are the largest independent fire safety group in Belgium.
We have more than 15,000 m² office space and workshops, and a fleet of 160 vehicles.
More than half our staff work in the field (service technicians, installers, foremen).
Our growth is more and more determined by the group’s internationalization. Since 1980, we have supplied fire engines all over the world, mainly in African, Arabian and Asian countries. International detection and extinguishing installations were also commissioned successfully. Since 1997, Somati have opted for a permanent presence abroad and have opened their own subsidiaries. The main geographic areas targeted are Eastern Europe and Asia.
Both in the Czech Republic and in Thailand, we now have our own personnel and infrastructure.
The setting up of European standards in fire safety also boosts further growth in Western Europe.
